PILOT CLUB DIARY OF
JUNE 2015 EVENTS

Our regular pub-nights are
on Thursday evenings. The last Thursday is always at the same pub in South St Albans, and the other pub-nights are at various pubs,
some with an optional meal beforehand.

Other regular events are
the First Tuesday lunch, at a pub in North St Albans,
and the Monday night quiz at a pub on Hatfield Road, St
Albans.

A popular new venture was
when some Pilot members joined a fitness dance class in Hatfield on Wednesday
mornings. Pilot dancers, as usual, went to a monthly Saturday evening dance
event in Edgware. Walkers went on a Sunday morning walk in Heartwood Forest, near Sandridge, followed by a visit to a nearby pub.

June’s film and theatre
events were “Suite Francaise” at St Albans Arena, David Mamet’s “The Shawl” and “Duck Variations” at the Abbey Theatre, St Albans, and “The Thrill of Love” at
the Barn Theatre, Welwyn Garden City.

Gardens were in Summer
bloom, so members visited three Open Gardens events on Sundays – one in Shenley; one in Ayot St Lawrence,
including the annual art exhibition in the church; and one in the Kensington
and Notting Hill area of London, including the roof-top garden of a former
department store.

A highlight of June was
the annual Sunday morning French Breakfast, with delicious food, and with a
view of a member’s lovely garden this year, instead of sitting in it, because
it was raining a little.

So why not contact the
Pilot New Members’ Co-ordinator, to find out what we will be doing in July? The
contact is via the box on our website. Highlights in July will include a visit to the
White Water Centre at Waltham Cross, and Pilot Club’s Summer event, with a
music quiz, supper and dancing.
