PILOT CLUB DIARY OF EVENTS AUGUST
2016
And COMING EVENTS FOR SEPTEMBER
2016
A special August pub night was at
the Six Bells in St Albans, with a beer-tasting festival and barbecue. Other pub nights were at
the Chequers, Redbourn, with an optional meal beforehand; at the Rose and
Crown, Sandridge; and at the William IV, St Albans. There was also a Friday night
get-together for members old and new at the Speckled Hen on the Hatfield Road. Members also joined the regular
Monday night pub quiz. The first Tuesday lunch was at a pub in St Albans.
Members wanting to keep fit joined
the Zumba Gold class in Hatfield, and walkers went on a 4-5 mile walk from
Redbourn, and a Bank Holiday walk by the canal in Hertford, with drinks in a
pub afterwards. Dancers went to the dance-club at Edgware.
Days out included a short walk to
the Festival Garden at Ayletts Nursery; a visit to Bletchley Park war-time
code-breaking centre; a trip to Hatfield House, with its garden and park; and a
visit to the Flamstead Scarecrow Festival.
There was also a plant-swap and tea in a member’s garden, and a Sunday
morning brunch in another member’s garden.

commemorate the bringing down of a German airship there; to the classic and
vintage car show at Capel Manor in Enfield; to Waddesdon Manor by coach; and to
the St Albans Beer and Cider Festival. There will also be an afternoon tea in a
member’s garden in St Albans.
Evening entertainment will include

of the Eurovision Song Contest by Bucks Fizz; and a new production of “The
Threepenny Opera” at Campus West, Welwyn Garden City.
There may be even more events added to
our September programme, as quite often late events are submitted by members
and sent round to all members by our special Pilot email.
If you think you would enjoy some
of these events, please contact our New Members’ Co-ordinator, through the
contact box on the main page of this website, for further details. You can attend three events before joining
the club.
